How for the greatest Mica Band Heaters

Mica Band Heaters are our most widely used band heater because of the versatile design and rugged construction characteristics. Mica Bands have sheath temperature capabilities approximately 800°F (425°C). Mica Bands are normally found in Plastics Injection Molding, Extrusion, Blow Molding applications along with Commercial Cooking, Electric and Dies Motors.

Mica insulated band heaters can be purchased in 1 or 2 piece construction and many different diameters and widths. One piece band heaters are made with inside diameters from 1 to 31/2 inches. Two piece band heaters can be purchased in diameters from 4 to 111/2 inches. Electrical connections are produced through post terminals or insulated and stainless overbraided leads.

Each half of the two piece band heaters are rated 120 Volts, and they are wired in parallel for 120 Volt operation, or even in series for 240 Volt operation.

Available choices include different terminals and dimensions, special wattage or voltage ratings, flexible conduit and holes or cutouts. Two, or more sections can be manufactured to fit larger diameters. Contact Engineering for additional information.

When heating objects to higher temperatures, lower Watt density heaters should be employed to prevent overheating and shortened heater life. Watt density will be the total wattage in the heater divided through the heated surface section of the heater. Utilize the table above to pick the utmost recommended Watt density for that application. Lower Watt densities can be accomplished by operating 240 Volt heaters on 120 Volts. When operating 240 Volt heaters on 120 Volts, the wattage and Watt density are derated by way of a factor. For more information please visit Usheat
